Applying for an account
What the application form asks for, and why.
The form at enios.one/signup takes a few minutes. Every field is used; nothing is sold or shared.
Your account
Username. Your sign-in name and the first part of your new e-mail address
(username@enios.one). 3 to 32 characters: lower-case letters, digits, dot,
dash and underscore. The form tells you at once whether a name is free. Some
names (such as admin or postmaster) are reserved.
Password. At least 12 characters. A few unrelated words make a good one
(copper lantern thursday). It must not contain your username. We store only
a one-way hash of it, so nobody at enios can read it back.
About you
Full name and address. Used on the account and, later, on the business side of enios (formation, banking, tax), where they are required by law. In phase one, enios is open to people in the United States; the form suggests addresses as you type.
Alternative e-mail address. An address you already use. We send a confirmation link there, tell you the decision there, and use it for a forgotten password. Pick one you will still have in a year.
Recovery questions
You choose three questions and give your answers. They are the second lock on
a password reset: the reset link goes to your alternative address, and the
reset page asks for all three answers. Answers are compared without regard to
case, spaces or punctuation, so The Rover and the rover match. They are
stored hashed, like the password.
What happens next
- We write to your alternative address; click the confirmation link.
- An administrator reviews the application. Applications from the same network in quick succession, or with a filled-in hidden field, are refused automatically.
- You hear the decision at your alternative address. If approved, your mailbox, calendar, contacts and workspace are ready at once, and a welcome message is waiting at mail.enios.one.
